20th Annual Conference of the National Association of the
State Highway and Transportation Unions
Please Join us for the 20th Annual NASHTU Conference!
.June 24-26, 2019, Washington, D.C.
The National Association of State Highway and Transportation Unions (NASHTU) is a respected, national voice dedicated to advancing the interests of transportation department workers throughout the country.
The NASHTU Conference provides an important opportunity for transportation unions to come together and strategize how to best serve our members and deliver safe, cost-effective transportation projects for taxpayers.
With Democrats in control of the House of Representatives for the first time since 2010, this year will present many new opportunities for NASHTU to push its legislative agenda. In the coming months, Congress is expected to begin ramping up for the reauthorization of the FAST Act, which expires in the fall of 2020. The newly appointed Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), has committed to finding new, sustainable revenue for the Highway Trust Fund. NASHTU members are well positioned to advocate for common sense transportation policies – such as cost comparison prior to outsourcing and public performance of construction inspection – that will ensure that transportation projects are delivered safely and cost effectively.
NASHTU is planning an impressive agenda for this year’s conference including keynote addresses from Members of Congress, U.S. DOT officials, good government advocacy groups, labor leaders, transportation industry experts, and many others. NASHTU conference attendees will also hear presentations on ways we can fight policies that encourage outsourcing in our states and at the federal level.
NASHTU conference attendees will also be able to meet face-to-face with their state’s Congressional Representatives and Senators during the lobbying portion of the conference. The NASHTU Conference will feature networking opportunities including a Group Dinner where conference attendees can get to know union representatives from other states and a Congressional Reception on Capitol Hill where they can mingle with Members of Congress and Congressional staff.
